Sunny's Doll Shelf

Over the weekend, Sunny's dad built her a big shelf for all of her dolls and her sister's dolls. It took a long time, but Sunny's dad finally mounted it on the wall and it looks so cool! Can you see me on the bottom shelf on the right??? I'm wearing my favorite purple sweater, a green skirt and violet-colored boots. Rebecca's standing with Samantha and Nellie...ugh! How does she even like them?
Sunny has a total of 10 dolls. Her sister has 6. Sunny's dad might be building another shelf in Sunny's sister's room so Sunny can have room for future dolls :-P!

I'm finally feeling better. I had to stay home from school yesterday and today, but Sunny says I'm well enough to go back tomorrow! I can't wait to see all my friends. I can wait, however, to make up all that stuff I missed while I was sick! :-( Bye!

Sick :-(

Believe it or not, Rebecca was the one who changed my mind about music! I was supposed to change hers!!! I actually am starting to see why she likes Bach and Beethoven...it is so relaxing to listen to when you're sick, like I am. :-( Yep, I caught a bug. I have a fever of 100 degrees and my throat is so sore! I feel miserable.

But being sick does have it's advantages. Sitting here in Sunny's bed makes you think about things. Like how AG is retiring Kirsten! Sunny is so mad because Kirsten is her favorite Historical doll and they're going to retire her. I mean, Kirsten and Samantha are part of the original 3 American Girl dolls. It makes her think that Molly could be next! :-( Kirsten was so sad when she found out she'd be joining Sam in the archives. I just gave her a huge hug...hope I didn't get her sick...

I've also been thinking about Halloween. I'm being Minnie Mouse and Rebecca is being Belle from Beauty and the Beast. Sunny got our costumes at Disney and they are absolutely adorable. I can't wait to go trick-or-treating! Candy, here Cali comes!!!

Another thing I've been pondering while laying in Sunny's comfortable bed and eating chicken noodle soup is the rain! It's been so rainy here. I hate it! It makes me feel even worse :-(

Well, sorry for such a here-and-there post! I'm going to listen to Beethoven's 9th Symphony while I try to go to sleep. Bye, everyone!

Monkey Slippers

One things for certain: Rebecca Rubin needs to get with the times! She's very nice, very funny and very dramatic but she's really stuck in the past. Today I was trying on Grandma's monkey slippers (they are the most comfortable slippers in the entire universe) and was walking around Sunny's room in them. Most of the other dolls were playing with the Wii in the living room but I didn't really feel like virtually bowling. So I put on the slippers and started dancing to my favorite rock 'n' roll song, which I clicked on, on my iPod. Apparently, Rebecca had left her novel in Sunny's room and was coming in to get it. I was totally embarassed to be caught dancing in giant monkey slippers.

"What in the world are you listening to?" Rebecca asked over the jamming music, completely ignoring the fact that I had on size 9 monkey slippers.

"Metallica," I answered, simply. I was sure she'd heard of the band before.

"Never heard of them! Their music is much too loud, though. I myself prefer Chopin and Beethoven," she said, grabbing her book, Wizard of Oz.

Then she left.

I was shocked she didn't even say a word about me dancing in huge monkey slippers but about what music I was listening to! That just proves that I need to convert Rebecca from a classical music lover stuck in the early 1900's to a contemporary music lover, like me!

Guess Who?

Hi, everyone. Guess who???

It's me, Rebecca Rubin!!!

I know you're all probably wondering what I'm doing on Cali's blog so I'll tell you: Cali is letting me post on here! Just once in a while but that's good enough for me! It's really fun posting on here.

Okay so I thought I'd tell you a few things about myself and my interests (9 things to be exact) today just so you can really see what my personality is like. Here you go...

1) I love, love, LOVE acting and performing! I've been in many plays and musicals. My favorite is Sound of Music.

3) Some say I have a great sense of humor. Here's one of my favorites:

What do you get when you cross a cow with a wet dog?

A milkshake!

4) I'm an average student but I love to read! One book that I especially like is the Wizard of Oz.

5) My dream is to be a famous actress on Broadway and to win a Tony!

6) My favorite color is purple :-)

7) My full name is Rebecca Violeta Beverly Rubin but normally people call me Becca.

8) I have light brown hair, greenish-brown-colored eyes and I tend to where old-fashioned clothes from the 1910's.

9) I really, really, really want a horse. I just adore horseback riding!

So there you go! I hope to post here again soon!

Live From The Wilderness Lodge At Disney!

Hi, everyone! It's me again, writing to you from Walt Disney World in Orlando Florida. We've done so much cool things so far it's really hard to sum it up. First of all, Grandpa picked Sunny and me up from school early so we could get there at a reasonable time. Then we got Grandma and Sunny's sister. It took a LONG time and I was getting pretty restless but we FINALLY arrived!!! Once we checked in, we got our room at the Wilderness Lodge and got ready for dinner at Downtown Disney. Sunny was wearing her favorite camo-green skirt and I was in my favorite Disney tee-shirt and my Mickey ears.

Then Grandpa suspiciously went to the car to get something he "forgot". Sunny was fooling around on her mini laptop. When he came back, he came back with a bag.

"Mickey wanted me to give you something," he said with a wink. Then Sunny opened the bag and found........

REBECCA RUBIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

She was freaking out because normally she only gets one gift from her parents but 2??? She was in shock and so was I. It was like the icing on the cake, I suppose!

I talked to Rebecca after Grandpa helped take her out of her box and she seemed very nice. I could tell that she loved acting- just her presence was like a performance! I could also tell that she had a great sense of humor! She told me this joke:

Why do seagulls fly over the sea?

Because if they flew over the bay they'd be bagels!

Get it?

So now I have a buddy to enjoy Disney with and Sunny finally has Rebecca! I can't wait to see how Animal Kingdom is tomorrow! :-) Have a great weekend, everybody!

Live From Sunny's Laptop!

Yesterday Sunny got an early b-day present...a laptop! I'm using it right this second and I like it a lot. This past week has been pretty good and now I get to end it by going to Disney World this afternoon! I am so excited! (Sorry for so many exclamation points :-)) I'll be sure to post a link to our pictures at Disney as soon as I get back. Bye, everyone!

Disney World, Here I Come!

Sometimes birthdays can be the greatest things in the world. This is one of those times. Sunny's parents just informed her that for her birthday she's going to Disney World...and I'm coming along! It's too good to be true! I mean some people never go to Disney World in their entire lives and I'm GOING! Hip-hooray! Happy Birthday, Sunny!
BTW, we're going on Friday, two days before her birthday (Friday the 18th) and leaving on the 20th, her birthday. I am so excited it's not even funny! Sunny's parents are keeping the Disney hotel a surprise so we don't have too much information on that but we do know that we're going to Animal Kingdom during the day and either MGM (now Hollywood Studios) or Magic Kingdom at night. It's going to be great :-)
*This picture belongs to the Walt Disney Company and is from Wikipedia. It is not mine.

Another great thing about the trip is that I get to leave school early on Friday, right after 5th period. I am so happy about that because my last subject is science and I *stink* at science.
Anyways, Sunny is hoping to get some AG stuff for her birthday and a few $$$ to put towards her Rebecca fund, as she calls it. I am really excited about the new friend! Hopefully, she'll come soon...
Well, that's all for today! Bye :-)

Surprise!

Okay, I bet you're dying to know what the surprise is so.........

It's a new website!!! Sunny got the idea of making it a few days ago but she created it last night and she is still getting used to how it works. Basically, it's a "social network" for girls who love AG dolls or want AG dolls so they can comment and post pictures of dolls they own or dolls they want. Sunny joined and someone else has, too. It's a great site but Sunny likes blogspot way better. She'll be posting on here as much as she has but she'll be staying updated on her new site as well. Hope you like it!!!

Also, Sunny's friend, Maggie auditioned for a school musical today (Cinderella) and she brought me along! It was so much fun watching all the boys and girls sing. Maggie did really well. I hope she gets a good part! She wanted to take pics of me but you're not allowed to use cameras during auditions. So I'll just remain picture-less for today :-(

My essay is coming along very well. I can't wait to post it on here on Monday! I think I did extremely good. Let's hope Senora Montoya thinks so, too!

Also, yesterday was 9/11, a very tragic day in American history. It was 8 years ago but Sunny still remembers the day it happened. I give my greatest sympathy to those who have lost loved ones in that terrible event and to anyone who knew someone who lost a loved one. I'm proud to be an American Girl!

Have a great weekend, everyone!!! See you soon :-)

"My Life" Essay & Other Stuff

Finally, I am excited about a homework project! Today Senora Montoya assigned an essay due Monday about our life. Basically, it's an autobiography. Since I love writing this project is going to be a breeze. Already I finished my first three paragraphs (it's supposed to be 7 to 10) and I am really excited- I might even post the essay when I finish! Sunny says that she knows I'll get an A but I'm not so sure. I get so nervous when it comes to essays and tests. Speaking of tests, my first one is tomorrow!!! It's technically a "pop quiz" but somehow word always leaks out that there's one. It's on math (my not-so-best subject) but I am studying!
So, how has school been for you?

My desk! This is where I do all my homework :-)
I am still in shock about Angel! She is just so cute and lovable...she's the best dog ever! Today I taught her how to shake and roll over. It's amazing how obedient Angel is!
Oh, I almost forgot! There's been an update on Madi's move and it's NOT a good one :-(. Instead of staying at FMSG until winter hiatus, she's now saying that her parents want her to transfer right after Halloween on November 2nd! When I asked her why, she said, "My parents want me to go there as soon as possible!" That's when I thought of that snob, Nellie! What parents want their child at a school where her peers set such a horrible example? I didn't say any more of it. I guess I'm just going to have to face the facts that Madi won't be at FMSG with me my whole life.

I guess this post was sort of boring but I just wanted to keep you all updated with things! I do have a surprise though and it will be revealed on the next post. Keep checking back for the special post... ;-)

Meet Angel

I cannot believe what Sunny did! I just can't! I was totally not suspecting to get a dog when we went to the pet store this morning to get some fish food, I wasn't even suspecting we'd look at the dogs! But Sunny said I could look and something absolutely, positively amazing happened- she said I could pick a dog, any dog at the pet store!
I nearly died.
Like I said in previous posts, my friend/roommate is allergic to dogs and cats and basically anything with fur so this was a total surprise. Sunny said that the dog had to sleep outside at night because that's practically the only time we're all in our dorm together. I agreed. Of course I wanted a puppy but my friends definitely come first!
I looked at every dog. Every single one. This was probably the only dog I'd ever have so I wanted to pick the right one! All the dogs were cute, though so this made it extra hard to choose :-(
Then, in the second-to-last cage, was a medium-sized brown and white basset hound. I guess you could say it was love at first sight!
"Is this the one you really want, Cali?" Sunny asked. "She really isn't all that playful."
It was true. The basset hound was mellow and quiet while the other dogs seemed rambunctious and were barking nonstop. But I didn't care! This dog was the dog for me!
"Yes!" I said, grinning.
Sunny just smiled and paid for the dog. And then it was official- I owned my very own dog!
As we drove away with the cute basset hound and some fish food, I couldn't help but wonder what to name the dog. After a lot of ideas, I finally came up with Angel! I think the name fit her perfectly.

Here's a picture of Angel and me sitting on my favorite red chair:

And a picture of Angel:

I am just so happy! I can't wait to tell my friends. They'd love to see Angel...even Noelle! :-)
I got to go! Bye!

Decisions, Decisions

Sunny is so confused! She almost has enough money for her 10th doll (not counting her little sister's 6 dolls) and she has no idea what doll to get! She really wants Rebecca Rubin because she loves her hair and she'd be a great friend for the 1904 girls, Samantha and Nellie (ick!) but then AG throws all these adorable new JLYs in the mix and she doesn't know what to do. I'm pretty sure she's still getting Rebecca but who knows? Sunny can be SO indecisive!

OMG! The Melody Valerie Fall/Winter 2009 line has come out and all the dresses are just beautiful! I'm hoping Sunny might get me a  dress for my birthday, which is in November but she's probably getting some Rebecca things like the Hanukkah Dress and her Movie Dress, both really gorgeous AG products. The dresses could double as dresses for Sam and Nellie since all they have are their meet dresses and their PJ's.

Today Grandma practiced french-braiding on Jane's beautiful auburn hair and it looked pretty good. Jane loves getting her hair done so she was the first doll to volunteer. My hair's too short for french braiding but Sunny has braided my hair in pigtails before.

Anyways, today is the start of a great three-day weekend! Sunny might go out to dinner tonight and take me! I've never actually been "out to dinner" but Vicki says it's really fun. Vicki was Sunny's first doll so she's gone to many places (Walt Disney World with Nellie and Sunny's friend, Kaylie's Molly and even the Smokey Mountains in Tennessee and North Carolina). I can't wait!

Bye! Have a great labor day weekend, everyone! :-)

THE NEW DOLLS ARE HERE!!!

It seems like everyone is going crazy over the new AG stuff and it's no surprise! Sunny thinks a lot of the new JLYs are adorable (red hair green eyes and black/brown hair green eyes are her favorites!) and a few of the new outfits she really likes as well. She's been loaded with homework so she hasn't seen the historical outfits yet but she wants to as soon as possible. I totally was not suspecting AG to come out with about 20 new dolls! It's just awesome! Now Sunny is unsure of what doll to buy- she still wants Rebecca but the red haired, green eyed AG doll is a doll she's really considering getting since it looks nothing like any of the other dolls she and her sis own. Choosing the right doll is really hard, I guess!

Anyway, my school picturess were today and I think mine turned out okay. What do you think?
School's been pretty good. I like all my classmates! Senora Montoya is very nice and funny! And most importantly, I am having fun! Today we did a science lab where we had to dissect owl pellets with little tweezer things and we had to wear plastic gloves. It was kind of gross (okay, REALLY gross) but at least it was interesting!

Fall Is In The Air!

Fall is close. I can just tell. I LOVE fall for two reasons: 1) my birthday is in fall and 2) I love how it's not too hot and not too cold during the day. With Fall also comes Sunny's birthday which is in about 3 weeks and Halloween. I still don't know what I'm going to be but I'm leaning towards something sort of creepy. Last year I was an angel fairy thing and I like to mix it up a bit and be something monster-y every other year. Have any suggestions??

Another great thing about Fall is the new JLY releases! Sunny has been going nuts because (after reading Avery V.'s post) she discovered that AG is coming out with a red haired, green eyed doll besides Felicity. She really wants that doll now ;-) Also I hear that some new Rebecca items are coming out! Yay! Sunny thinks Rebecca sort of looks like me but I really don't see the resemblance... do you???

School pictures are on Thursday...yay! I love school pictures. Sunny says this is probably because I am so photogenic (did I spell that right?). She wants me to wear something nice so I will probably wear my pink tye-died dress with a white jacket. My grandma thinks that pink was made for #21's but I'm not so sure. I'm a blue-kind-of-girl at heart!

So that's pretty much all that's going on around here. Have a great day!!!
