Halloween Weekend

Hey everyone! Cali is excited. Cali is very very excited. Cali likes to talk in third person :) Well, aside from being weird, I am extra wired because Halloween is only a day away! Everyone has been getting prepared for this holiday by decorating, making spooktacular recipes, and (of course) eating candy.

Today I'd like to share with you some photos of a handmade doll dress bought at a local doll boutique in our area. The dress screams 'fall' and the warm browns and oranges go great with Mia's red hair and hazel eyes. The woman who sold us the outfit said the dress was called "Thanksgiving Dinner" but I think it works well for any time during autumn. What do you think?

Hope you enjoyed the pictures! Stay tuned for a Halloween post tomorrow :) BOO!

Halloween Costumes, Part 2

Welcome, witches and wizards, to the second edition of our two-part Halloween Costume Special. Today we'll be talking about two other costumes that are definitely some of our favorites- our Fairy and Trick-or-Treater costumes.

The Fairy costume is your typical fluttery skirt, white leotard, whimsical fairy wings, and ballet flats. This lovely ensemble was a steal from Michael's for only around 7$. Granted the outfit isn't as great of quality as AG-brand costumes, it does work nicely for Halloween and is pretty well-made for the price. Last year this was my costume but this Halloween, Jane will be using it. I have my own special costume planned! ;)
The other costume we will be showcasing is merely a set we received as a gift from one of Sunny's people friends. The shirt (which we believe is the purple tee from the Doll Tees craft kit) is given a very spooktacular look with an iron-on ghost and bats. The coordinating trick-or-treat bag is decorated with CREEPY ghost eyes and bats. This outfit is not as much as a costume as the Fancy Riding Outfit, Minnie Mouse dress, or the Fairy costume so we added a black mask for an extra scary effect.
So those are our current costumes here at FMSG! Nothing much but they aren't too hopeless. As for my amazing costume, that will be revealed on Halloween for a EXTRA EXTRA EXTRA special post. Until then- some Halloween trivia!

~Orange and black are the official Halloween colors because orange is associated with fall harvest and black is associated with death and mourning.

~Black cats were thought to be the aids and familiars of witches or magical beings.

~Halloween is the second most commercially successful holiday, after Christmas.

~Some say that if you see a spider on Halloween, it is the soul of someone dear looking over you.

~Pumpkins also come in colors such as green, white, and BLUE!

Have a great weekend!

Halloween Costumes, Part 1

Hey, guys! Time for part 1 of our 2 part Halloween Costume special. Today we'll be discussing two of my favorite doll Halloween ensembles, our Minnie Mouse costume and our AG-brand Fancy Riding Outfit. These outfits are modeled by my friends Madi and Gwendolyn.

As you can see, these costumes are very similar to costumes we see for girls. Although they differ slightly, the same basic idea is obvious in both.
Kids Equestrian Costume - Kids Halloween Costumes This costume greatly resembles AG's newest horseback riding outfit, the Fancy Riding Outfit. This outfit consists of a dark blue show blazer, white breeches, black show boots, and a velvet helmet. Not only does this cute ensemble work well for Halloween, it also is a great addition to any horse-loving doll's wardrobe.
This costume, one of the many Minnie Mouse costumes available for young girls, is an almost exact magnification of the Disney Girls Minnie Mouse outfit, which can be purchased exclusively at any Disney Resort & Theme Park. The classic red polka-dot dress and the eyelet slip are important elements in all Minnie Mouse costumes. Both things can be found in both the girl sized version and that for the doll.

Stay tuned for more Halloween Costume posts, coming to a Dashboard near you!

Happy Halloween!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, today is the third best day of the year (my birthday and Christmas come first), and I am totally excited! Check out how my Halloween has been so far by clicking here. I had quite a fun time, and I can't wait to go trick-or-treating some more. How has your Halloween been?

All my friends got dressed up and then went to my dorm for a Halloween fiesta. (Sorry for the random Espanol, I've been taking Spanish lessons from Senora Montoya.) It was very fun and spooky, too.

Also, the whole party was doubling as a going-away party for Madison, who will sadly be leaving for Madame Montez Academy tomorrow. :-( I also here that a mysterious new student will be arriving tomorrow to take Madi's place. I wonder who it could be???

I hope everyone has a scary Halloween!!!

The votes are in

Yes, the elections were today, and sadly I lost :-( I tried my hardest and that's all that matters. I'm sure Kirsten will be a great president; she deserves it more than I do. With the whole archiving thing stressing her out, I think it'll be nice for her to concentrate on something more positive for a change.
Also, tomorrow is 10/31/09 a.k.a HALLOWEEN!

BOO!

I am "booing" all of my readers, which means that you have to tell a spooky story on your blog either about Halloween or any other time you were really, really freaked out. I'll start:

Last Halloween I went trick-or-treating with Maggie's doll Mia. Mia is very nice and sweet, but she is a total scaredy cat! I persuaded her (somehow!) to go with me into the haunted house our neighbor's had set up across the street. We walked in and scary music started to play, and creepy guys in zombie clothes started jumping out at us, and chasing us. Even I, a horror movie fanatic, was a tad bit scared, so I knew Mia was probably wanting to cry. But, I looked over at her and she was laughing like she was having the best time EVER! It amused me so much that the queen of wimps (no offense, Mia! You rock!) was less scared than I was so then I started to laugh. The other people in the haunted house probably thought we were crazy!

Alright, that was my spooky story (okay, it wasn't that spooky but it did have to do with Halloween, so there!) so I encourage you all to write your own! I am anxious to read some of your funny/creepy Halloween experiences. I know I have way more than just that one!

Anyways, tonight I carved a pumpkin and it was very fun. Sunny said my pumpkin turned out great, but I'm not so sure I agree. What do you think???
Sunny has been, of course, going nuts over her puppy. She thinks he is so cute, and he is! She has two french bulldogs (Finn and Gus) and a cross between a frenchy and pug named Doc.

Have a great night, and see you tomorrow with a special Halloween post!

The Fall Portraits Are Done

Sunny has *finally* finished the fall portraits! She has done all of her dolls and she thinks we all look very lovely. Click here to see the album. Most of the photos are photoshopped. Sunny isn't that good at photoshopping, but the pictures didn't turn out terrible. My hair was styled in this cute 'do where Sunny braided both sides and gathered them in a bun in the back. It took her forever to do the style without it looking like a total mess :-P!

Anyways, Halloween is right around the corner! Sunny almost has everyone's costumes picked out (she still has to get Noelle a costume) and she's in the process of decorating her room with cobwebs and other Halloween-ish decorations. After Christmas, Halloween is Sunny's favorite holiday. I think mine, too!

Also, something is coming in the mail soon... but I won't say what! Let's just say the money Sunny was saving for Rebecca didn't go to waste! :-)

HAPPY FALL

Sick :-(

Believe it or not, Rebecca was the one who changed my mind about music! I was supposed to change hers!!! I actually am starting to see why she likes Bach and Beethoven...it is so relaxing to listen to when you're sick, like I am. :-( Yep, I caught a bug. I have a fever of 100 degrees and my throat is so sore! I feel miserable.

But being sick does have it's advantages. Sitting here in Sunny's bed makes you think about things. Like how AG is retiring Kirsten! Sunny is so mad because Kirsten is her favorite Historical doll and they're going to retire her. I mean, Kirsten and Samantha are part of the original 3 American Girl dolls. It makes her think that Molly could be next! :-( Kirsten was so sad when she found out she'd be joining Sam in the archives. I just gave her a huge hug...hope I didn't get her sick...

I've also been thinking about Halloween. I'm being Minnie Mouse and Rebecca is being Belle from Beauty and the Beast. Sunny got our costumes at Disney and they are absolutely adorable. I can't wait to go trick-or-treating! Candy, here Cali comes!!!

Another thing I've been pondering while laying in Sunny's comfortable bed and eating chicken noodle soup is the rain! It's been so rainy here. I hate it! It makes me feel even worse :-(

Well, sorry for such a here-and-there post! I'm going to listen to Beethoven's 9th Symphony while I try to go to sleep. Bye, everyone!
