Standing Up!

Wow. I can't believe I actually stood up to Nellie! Yes, it was hard (and scary), but I did it! Yay for me! I think things are getting better around here already. Nellie apologized after I got all mad and stood up for myself and admitted she was being not-so nice to me for no real reason. Then she called the principal of MM (also, her wealthy father) and told him that she wanted to be transferred back to Madame Montez. I felt a tad bit bad about the whole thing, but soon got over it when the idea sunk in.
As for Madi, she's liking FMSG a bunch! The girls (most of them anyway) are very nice. She met one girl named Samantha who was quite welcoming. Samantha Parkington (from the description) has brown hair and brown eyes and is BFF's with Nellie. Who knows? Maybe Nellie will change and the three could be good friends.
Since Madame Montez isn't too far away from FMSG- about 45 minutes- Madi is coming to my birthday party on Monday. I will be turning 11, which, in my opinion, is the best number in the entire universe! Sunny says she has a "surprise birthday gift" for me. I can't wait to see what! :-)
Most of my friends are coming. Who knows? Maybe I'll even invite Nellie!

Mad

Madi has left FMSG and has now started school at Madame Montez, where Nellie (key word here!) used to go. As I said in my previous post, someone was coming to FMSG in Madi's place. That someone was none other than Nellie O'Malley, the most annoying girl I've ever met. Why she wanted to go to FMSG after making fun of it at the theater the day I found out about Madi's move, I did not know. So, when I saw her big, white limousine pull into FMSG I decided to go ask myself.
"Nellie!" I nearly shouted. "What on Earth are you doing here? I thought you hated Frosted Meadows?"
"Oh, Cali, what ever gave you that idea?" Nellie laughed, sarcastically.
I felt like I was going to burst.
"Um, you told me you hated it the last time we talked," I said.
"Cali, calm down. This was all part of my plan. Persuade Madison to move to MM: CHECK! Transfer to FMSG: CHECK! Annoy Cali 24/7: a work in progress. That should explain everything!" Nellie smirked.
"Uhh!" That was all I could and wanted to say. The only way to stop Nellie from annoying the heck out of me was to pretend I didn't care...even if I really did.
And here I am now, taking my anger out on Sunny's laptop, typing away. Something has to be done with that girl, and I'm determined to get whatever that is done. Nellie O'Malley needs to get taught a lesson!
I think I might even have the perfect idea! It won't be anything that'll make her feel embarrassed or anything mean. I'm just going to stand up to her!

Happy Halloween!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, today is the third best day of the year (my birthday and Christmas come first), and I am totally excited! Check out how my Halloween has been so far by clicking here. I had quite a fun time, and I can't wait to go trick-or-treating some more. How has your Halloween been?

All my friends got dressed up and then went to my dorm for a Halloween fiesta. (Sorry for the random Espanol, I've been taking Spanish lessons from Senora Montoya.) It was very fun and spooky, too.

Also, the whole party was doubling as a going-away party for Madison, who will sadly be leaving for Madame Montez Academy tomorrow. :-( I also here that a mysterious new student will be arriving tomorrow to take Madi's place. I wonder who it could be???

I hope everyone has a scary Halloween!!!

School Elections???

Yep, the FMSG elections begin next week and then the week after that (the day before Halloween) the actual votes are cast. Everyone who wants to run has to notify Assistant Principal Johannsen and get signatures of approval from all their teachers by Friday. Noelle, Jane, and even Gwen are pestering me to run, but I'm not so sure. I mean, am I really presidential material?

Who's Running for What (as of today):
Secretary: Samantha Parkington
Rebecca Rubin
Treasurer: Noelle Greene
Molly McIntire
Vice-president: Elizabeth Cole
Julie Albright
President: Kirsten Larson

If I don't decide to run Kirsten will win just because no one else volunteered. Kirsten is nice and all but she can get sort of bossy. She says it's just because she cares about things, but I think she's just a natural leader. Maybe I should run. What do you think?

Madi is obviously not running because of the fact she's moving in only 2 weeks! I am so sad. Losing my best friend feels terrible. :-( I just wish there was something I could do to let her know that even though we won't be at the same school, we're still going to stay friends...

Bye!!! Updates on the election will be posted soon :-)

A Miscellaneous Post

I've been wondering if I should change my background for fall? I added a pumpkin picture on the sidebar to make it a little more festive, but I haven't had the heart to change my current background. I really like it and I think it fits me extremely well. What do you think???

Sunny is getting very impatient. She really wants the thing/things that are coming in the mail to arrive! Hopefully, soon they'll be here. I'm getting a little anxious, too. Sunny hasn't even told me what it is!

Nothing much has been going on around here lately. School's been extra boring and hard, and Madi is getting ready to leave FMSG. I'm still bummed about the whole she's-moving-thing but I'm starting to realize that there's nothing I can do. If she wants to go to a school with that Nellie person, she can.

For now, please enjoy a picture of me reading a book! This is one of my favorites :-)

"My Life" Essay & Other Stuff

Finally, I am excited about a homework project! Today Senora Montoya assigned an essay due Monday about our life. Basically, it's an autobiography. Since I love writing this project is going to be a breeze. Already I finished my first three paragraphs (it's supposed to be 7 to 10) and I am really excited- I might even post the essay when I finish! Sunny says that she knows I'll get an A but I'm not so sure. I get so nervous when it comes to essays and tests. Speaking of tests, my first one is tomorrow!!! It's technically a "pop quiz" but somehow word always leaks out that there's one. It's on math (my not-so-best subject) but I am studying!
So, how has school been for you?

My desk! This is where I do all my homework :-)
I am still in shock about Angel! She is just so cute and lovable...she's the best dog ever! Today I taught her how to shake and roll over. It's amazing how obedient Angel is!
Oh, I almost forgot! There's been an update on Madi's move and it's NOT a good one :-(. Instead of staying at FMSG until winter hiatus, she's now saying that her parents want her to transfer right after Halloween on November 2nd! When I asked her why, she said, "My parents want me to go there as soon as possible!" That's when I thought of that snob, Nellie! What parents want their child at a school where her peers set such a horrible example? I didn't say any more of it. I guess I'm just going to have to face the facts that Madi won't be at FMSG with me my whole life.

I guess this post was sort of boring but I just wanted to keep you all updated with things! I do have a surprise though and it will be revealed on the next post. Keep checking back for the special post... ;-)

My First Day of School (the Extended Edition)

Hey, Cali here! How was everyone's first days of school? Mine was pretty good but I did have a run-in with an O'Malley...not Nellie, though! Her cousin, actually, Natalie O'Malley. Natalie looks just like Nellie but she is amazingly nicer and way less snobby. I asked her if she was close with Nellie and she said "yes" so I didn't say anything more about Nellie...but I did tell her about school since she's new. I've been going here since first grade and I know it like the back of my hand! I make great friends, I have great teachers and I learn so much at FMSG. No offense, to the school Madame Montez Academy but I would rather go here any day. So anyway, it was a really fun day and we did a lot of cool stuff. My teacher, Senora Montoya, is (if you didn't already tell by the name) spanish! She used a lot of spanish words around us so I knew a few from my spanish classes that I took in 3rd grade. For instance, gato means cat, casa means home, perro means dog and yes is si. I also know some phrases but I have NO clue how to spell them.

Madi is in my class which I was thankful for since it's basically the last semester we're ever going to go to school together again :-( I'm still sad about the whole moving thing but I've gotten over it some. I'm trying to live in the moment!

The only thing that wasn't great about my first day was the homework- we got 100 multiplication facts to complete and we had to fill in an All-About-Me survey. Ugh!

Oh yeah, I almost forgot! My first day outfit! To see it you have to go to my Picasa newest album: www.picasaweb.google.com/hazelwoodca/CaliSFirstDayOfSchool#. This album also shows you a little bit more about my first day.

I guess I'm glad school has started up again. I can't wait to see what else we'll do! :-)

PS- I guess this post wasn't super long. I'm sorry!

My Last Day of Summer

Sadly, today is my final day of summer- school starts tomorrow! I am sort of excited but not really. I mean, I bet I'm going to have loads of homework. I do want to see my friends again, though! :-) At FMSG you have to choose two electives out of dance, orchestra, band, choir, soccer, jazz, gym and art. I chose jazz club and soccer since I joined them over the summer and had really fun. Other classes I am enrolled in are math, science, advanced reading and advanced history. I just hope I get a few classes with my friends!

I'm still in shock that Madi will only be at FMSG for half the year! Then she's moving to some private school with snobby Nellie (see previous post). I decided to talk to her today about why she hadn't told me about Nellie and Madame Montez Academy today:

"Hi, Madi," I said when I walked into her dorm room this morning.
"Hey, Cali," Madi said, smiling. "What's up?"
"Um, why did you keep Madame Montez a secret from me, your BEST friend?" I wondered.
Madi looked puzzled. "Who told you about Madame Montez?"
"This girl Nellie. I saw her at the theater a couple days ago," I answered. "She had short strawberry-blonde hair and lotsa freckles."
Madison's face flushed. "I'm SO sorry," she said. "I wanted to tell you but I thought you'd be so mad at me you wouldn't want to be friends anymore."
I frowned. "That could never happen! I think I'd be less mad if you told me beforehand, though."
Madi grinned and gave me a huge bear hug. I just knew that even if Madi wouldn't be at Frosted Meadows School for Girls she'd still be one of my closest friends :-)

Since  I was near Noelle's dorm I decided to stop in and check on how her back-to-school preparations were going. When I walked in I nearly toppled over clothes she had strewn all over the floor. Her roommate Anne Marie looked at me flustered. Anne Marie is a shy, quiet, clean-freak so this mess was probably making her crazy.
"Um, what on EARTH is going on in here?" I wondered, picking up a wrinkly pink sweater.
Noelle was holding a silk blouse and an a-line skirt. "I'm picking out what I am going to wear tomorrow. Anne Marie's helping."
Anne Marie stared at the floor. "She means I'm picking up her mess."
I couldn't help but laugh. "Well, did you find any possible outfits?" I asked Noelle.
"Yes, actually. I narrowed it down to three outfits," Noelle replied.
"Well, try them on!" I exclaimed.

Noelle's first outfit "Outfit A":

This outfit consists of a blue long-sleeved shirt with a pink bird graphic, jeans with matching graphics on the bottom, the headband from the JLY current meet outfit and the ballet flats from the JLY current meet outfit.

Noelle's second outfit "Outfit B":

This outfit consists of the "I Like Your Style" JLY top, the 2007 JLY Holiday Outfit skirt, the current JLY meet outfit headband and the ballet flats from the current JLY meet outfit.

Noelle's third outfit "Outfit C":

This outfit consists of the light purple sweater from Kit's meet outfit, the vanilla-colored turtle  neck from the JLY travel outfit, the skirt from the JLY travel outfit, the headband from the current JLY meet outfit and the sparkly pink shoes from the 2007 Holiday Outfit.

"Which one do you like best?" she wondered.
I shrugged. "I like them all."

So here's where you guys come in! Look at each picture carefully and then vote for your favorite outfit on the poll. The outfit with the most votes by tomorrow at 7 am will be the outfit Noelle wears on her first day of school. My outfit has already been chosen  and will remain secret until the special "My First Day of School" post tomorrow. Happy voting and have a great last day of summer and first day of school!

The Wizard of Oz & My Enemy

A picture of me with my Wizard of Oz dolls (Dorothy and Glinda) and my "ruby slippers"!

Thanks to my recent obsession with musicals Sunny decided to take me to Frosted Meadows Theater to see the Wizard of Oz movie. FMT usually shows classics or old movies so this was really cool. The theater is very neat inside (somewhat medieval looking) and BIG! But unfortunately Sunny wasn't allowed to take pics while in the theater. :-( Anyways, we got popcorn, Pepsi and Reese's Pieces at the theater and then sat down and talked until the movie started...then I saw another doll!!! She was a few rows ahead of our's so I asked Sunny if I could talk to her. She was very pretty and her hair was in a fancy-pancy style.
"Hi, I'm Cali," I said, smiling.
"Hello. My name's Nellie O'Malley," said the doll.
"Do you go to FMSG?" I asked. I guessed she did because that's practically the only doll school for miles.
"Uh, no. I go to Madame Montez Academy. Do you go to Frosted Meadows?" Nellie wondered.
I nodded.
"No wonder. Most of the richer dolls go to Madame Montez," laughed Nellie. I thought that sounded kind of snobby.
"Oh."
"Do you know Madison Ling?" asked Nellie.
My face brightened. "Yeah! She's one of my best friends."
"Oh...did she tell you?" Nellie said, her face suddenly looking sympathetic.
"Tell me what?" I asked.
"She's transferring to Madame Montez after winter break," Nellie said. "We met at a banquet in June and I told her about the school. She immedietly wanted an interview and Madame Montez immediately wanted her. Sorry...it's sort of my fault she's moving to a new school." Her voice was not sincere. Something about this Nellie person made me suspicious.
"Oh, okay," I said, waving to her and walking back to Sunny. I tried to enjoy the show but I had a gut feeling that me and Nellie were NOT going to be friends. I also was sad that Madi hadn't told me about Madame Montez Academy.

So I guess you could say I had a fun day (I went to see the Wizard of Oz) and a terrible day (NELLIE!!! and the fact that Madi is moving in the winter) all at once. I guess I'll just read book. That always makes me feel better! (especially Harry Potter...)

Bye!!!

Madison's Back-To-School Ball

Every summer, right before school starts, Madison Ling (aka Madi, my BFF) throws a party she calls the "Back-To-School Ball". Madi has a giant house with a pool, a game room and 5 bathrooms so it's no wonder lots of people go. Even some teachers attend ;-) The ball was really fun and I even met some newbies, like Mia St. Clair.  She's Maggie's (Sunny's friend) doll and she seemed pretty nice. I enjoyed talking to her. The refreshments were delicious as well, which is obvious because Sunny is a pretty good cook. I helped her make a batch of snickerdoodles but that was pretty much it.

Here's a pic Anne Marie took of all the girls who came to the party- don't we look stunning???

After everyone ate and danced and chit-chatted Julie suggested we play a party game. We played "Duck, Duck, Goose" for a little while and we even played "Pin the Tail on the Donkey". It was fun but a little childish or so Madi said, so we had to stop. I thought that was kind of bossy of her but I reminded myself that it was her party after all.

That night I laid in my bed and thought over the events of the night. I had met a new girl, ate yummy treats and even played some really fun games. If this had been fun, I couldn't wait to see what the actual 6th Grade had in store!

Time Traveling With Kirsten- Part 1

Today Jane, Lauren and Rachelle we
nt to the mall. They invited moi but instead I decided to stay at home and read a Harry Potter book. As soon as I thought I had Sunny's room to myself Kirsten and Madi barged in wearing... pioneer clothes!?! "What on Earth is going on?" I wondered, suspiciously. "Kirsten invited me to go time traveling to the 1800's with her!" Madi exclaimed excitedly. "Oh, ok," I said looking at Kirsten. "As long as you guys are back b
y dinner." "We will," agreed Kirsten. "This is going to be so much fun!" I waved goodbye and then the two vanished into thin air...

"Are we here?" Madi asked.
"Yes," Kirsten said, grinning. "Isn't it beautiful?"
"Um, it looks like we're still in Sunny
's room..." Madi admitted.
"We aren't!" Kirsten shouted. "Do you see Cali? Noelle? Julie?"
"Um...no," Madi said.
"See?" Kirsten spread her arms out and beamed. "Welcome to 1854!"

Suddenly, a girl dressed in Native-American threads walked towards Madi and Kirsten. "This is my Indian friend, Kaya," Kirsten said. "Kaya, Madi. Madi, Kaya."
Madi and Kaya waved to each other. "This is Claw, my bear cub friend," Kaya said. Madi and Kirsten petted Claw's head. "His parents have disappeared and I'm out looking for them."
"Awww," Kirsten cooed. "Poor thing." (Did I mention she has a soft spot for animals?)
"We'll help you find them!" Madi exclaimed, looking at Kirsten. "Right, Kirsten?"
"Of course!" Kirsten agreed.
Kaya's eyes glowed. "Great! Hurry! I saw some pawprints in the dirt by the creek..."

To be continued........ ;-)
